Biography

Kadire Zeynep Sayım earned her PhD in Human Resource Management from De Montfort University (UK). She also holds MA in Training and Human Resource Development from University of Warwick (UK) and MBA from Middle East Technical University (Turkey). Before joining Bilkent University Faculty of Business Administration in 2000, she worked in banking, retail and NGO sectors. She has led a funded project (by TÜBİTAK) on human resource policies of German multinationals in Turkey (2009-2012) and another one on organisation and regulation of employment relations in transnational production and supply networks (2009-2011) funded by Hans‐Boeckler‐Foundation (Germany). She is the recipient of “Prof. Muhan Soysal Innovativeness in Management Education” award (by Middle East Technical University) in 2003. In 2008 she received the Best Paper Award at the Industrial Relations in Europe Conference.

Dr Sayım teaches Introduction to Business courses for first year Management students, in addition to Human Resource Management in MBA and Executive MBA programmes. Her research focuses on cross-national transfer of employment and organisational policies & practices as well as teamwork and gender, particularly in decision making. She has been published in a number of outlets including Human Relations, OMEGA The International Journal of Management Science, and Innovations in Education and Teaching International. She is married to a Turkish diplomat who likes to take assignments in difficult places and currently is the Consul General of Turkey in Mosul, northern Iraq. She is the mother of two, 5 year old Ahmet Işık, and Umay who is 3. As a family, they adore felines and have 5 cats at home.
