Bilkent University Library

Bilkent University Library operates in two separate locations: the East Campus and the Main Campus. The Main Campus Library provides services to its users 363 days a year, with a library area of 12,423 m² and a seating capacity of 1,433 people.

East Campus Library

The East Campus Library is located in the basement of Building N (School of Applied Technology and Management). The library has 3 computers with internet access and 1 group study room.

Circulation Desk

There are 3 circulation desks at Bilkent University Library. The circulation desks, where users can borrow materials and serve as the first point of contact for library resources and services are located at the entrance of the East Campus Library, on the ground floor of Block A, and on the 2nd floor of Block B Multimedia Room in the Main Campus Library.

Silent Zone

The Silent Zone, located on the 2nd floor of Block B in the Main Campus Library, is a special area designated for individual study, where mobile phones, laptops, and other keyboard-equipped devices are prohibited.

Group Study Rooms

In the Main Campus Library Block B, there are 13 group study rooms on the 2nd floor. Seven of these rooms can accommodate 6 people each, while six can accommodate 4 people each. To use these rooms, you need to apply at the Multimedia Room circulation desk.

In the Main Campus Library Block A, there are 2 group study rooms on the 2nd floor, each accommodating 8 people. To use these rooms, you need to apply at the circulation desk located on the ground floor of Block A.

In the East Campus Library, there is 1 group study room that can accommodate 6 people.

Video Booths

The Main Campus Library Block B has 4 video viewing rooms on the 2nd floor. To use these rooms, you must apply at the Multimedia Room circulation desk. Click here to review the rules for using the Video Booths.

Multimedia Room

The Multimedia Room, located on the 2nd floor of Block B in the Main Campus Library, houses the library’s collection of DVDs/VCDs, music CDs (primarily classical Western music and jazz), and sheet music. Borrowing materials from this collection and the group study rooms is managed by the Multimedia Room circulation desk during working hours and according to specific rules.

Room for Visually Impaired

The Room for Visually Impaired was established on December 25, 2008, with the support of the Bilkent University Alumni Association (BİLMED) and the Alumni Center. The room is located on the ground floor of the Block B in the library. This room is designed to provide equal and easy access to information for visually impaired users.

The room is equipped with various Braille resources, as well as computers with specialized equipment, such as a Pearl camera reading system, the latest version of the JAWS screen reader program, a cassette player, and a printer to cater to the needs of visually impaired users. These computers allow users to scan documents, print text, and access the internet.

The Visually Handicapped Room is available from 08:30 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 17:00 on weekends under the supervision of Reference Librarians. Users can visit the room anytime during these hours and take advantage of the services offered. Click here to review the rules for using the Video Booths.

Art Gallery

Located on the basement floor of Block A in the Main Campus Library, the Art Gallery is a multi-purpose space used for library events and special requests. It hosts a variety of events, including talks, professional meetings, workshops, cultural activities, and training sessions. The Art Gallery is available for use on weekdays between 09:30 and 17:00.

Bilkent University members can use the Art Gallery for all kinds of artistic, cultural, and scientific events, with the approval of the library administration. To use the Art Gallery, a Library Event Request Form must be filled out.

Orientation Room

The Orientation Room, located on the ground floor of Block A in the Main Campus Library, is designed to host various events and presentations. Special presentations and training sessions led by library staff are also held in this room. Students and researchers can learn how to use the wide range of resources offered by our library more effectively here. Click here to request an orientation.

Stationery

Located on the 1st floor of Block B in the Main Campus Library, the stationery shop offers stationery items for sale, thesis printing, and various other printing services. 

Due to copyright laws, photocopying library materials is not permitted. All library users who use the photocopying and printing services offered by the stationery shop are considered to have accepted copyright laws.

Café

Bringing in and consuming food and beverages within the Main Campus Library is strictly prohibited. However, there are two private café operations located on the ground floor of Block A and the 3rd floor of Block B, where users can eat and drink.

Internet-Accessible Computers

Computers with internet access are available for all users in the halls on the 1st and 2nd floors of Block A in the Main Campus Library. Click here to review the rules.
