TRANSFER OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS, FAIR USE AND COPYRIGHT PRACTICES FOR THE RESERVE/E-RESERVE COLLECTION FOR ACADEMICS OF BİLKENT UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

1) TRANSFER OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
Materials requiring intellectual property rights transfer before being included in the electronic reserve collection:

  • Course notes
  • Exam questions and answers
  • Other materials prepared by the course instructor
  • Student papers/presentations (with permission from the student authors)

By signing below, it is understood that these materials will be made accessible exclusively to the Bilkent community via the Bilkent University Library Institutional Repository (BUIR) under the scope of the Electronic Reserve. Through this agreement, the academic grants access to their personal works within the boundaries of the Bilkent University campus.

2) FAIR USE
Materials that do not require copyright permission before being included in the electronic reserve collection:

  • Government publications
  • A single chapter from a book
  • Articles from a limited number of journal issues
  • Charts, graphs, diagrams, drawings, or images from books, journals, or newspapers

Note: Materials to be provided in electronic format should be submitted via USB drive, CD-ROM, or email.

3) COPYRIGHT PRACTICES
Materials requiring copyright permission to be included in the electronic reserve collection:

  • Entire books
  • Complete course packs
  • More than one chapter from a book
  • More than one article from the same journal issue
