Bilkent University Main Campus Library will be open to Bilkent
University community only during the final exam period.
Therefore, the library will not serve outside users (except Protocol
users) between 17-30 May 2012.

BİLKENT LIBRARY SURVEY
Last semester, Bilkent University Library administered a User Satisfaction
Survey in order to understand more effectively the opinions of students,
academics and outside users about the Library's services and collection,
and to identify areas in need of improvement. The Survey is now online and

ATTENTION
Bilkent University Library is pleased to announce that the Art Room (B-Block, first floor) has been re-opened, following renovation during the summer. The Art Room houses the Library's art collection, including visual arts, archaeology, art history and architecture titles, and has seating capacity for 76 readers. The Room is open between 08.30-23.30 during the week and 09.00-17.00 at weekends. We hope that the renovated Art Room will be provide a more pleasant and comfortable working space for students and faculty.

NEW LIBRARY VIDEOS
Bilkent University Library is happy to announce a series of new
instructional videos about library resources and rules that were written
and recorded in collaboration with Masters of Fine Arts students (COMD and
GRA). The videos, which are in Turkish with English subtitles, were
designed to be both entertaining to watch as well as informative. You can

The Library plans to make more videos in the future, and we welcome all
feedback and suggestions.
ASK ONLINE!
Bilkent University Library is happy to announce the start of a new library
service called Ask Online! This service is an embedded instant messaging
program that will allow users to contact one of our reference librarians
in real time, and ask questions online about research problems or library
services online. As long as a librarian is logged on, you will be able to
“chat” about your query and receive a response much more quickly than
walking to the library building or waiting for an email reply. This new
service will be available between 9.00 and 17.00 during the week (Monday
to Friday). To access Ask Online!, follow the links on our homepage:

offline” is shown, it means all our librarians are currently busy, so
please try again a short while later. Ask Online! is available for users

OVERDRIVE DIGITAL LIBRARY SOCIAL NETWORKING SHARE FEATURE IS NOW LIVE!
Bilkent University Library would like to announce to all users the new social networking “share” feature on Bilkent OverDrive Digital Library. This new feature allows you to share with your friends any titles on the Bilkent OverDrive website, using e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.

DOWNLOAD AUDIOBOOKS AND MORE TO THEIR MOBILE DEVICES
The library’s OverDrive Digital Library, accessible from anywhere, now offers a mobile website edition for easy browsing, searching, and checkout, on-the-go from your Smartphone, Blackberry®, iPhone or other web-enabled device. Windows Mobile (5 or newer) users can wirelessly download audiobooks, music, and video to their mobile device using OverDrive® Media Console for Windows Mobile. Android™ device owners can install a beta version of OverDrive Media Console to download OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks. You now have instant access on the bus or in line at the grocery store. ATTENTION
Bilkent University Library would like to announce to all users that new security gates have been installed at the entrance to main campus library.
These new gates will help make access to the Library more secure and
provide better statistics about library usage. As before, entry will be on the right-hand side as you approach from the
outside, and the exit will be on the left. In order to enter the building,
all Bilkent members must scan their Bilkent ID card and this will
automatically open the gate. Bilkent family members who do not have a
Bilkent ID card can apply for an individual library card at the
Circulation desk. (This card will only work the gate, it cannot be used for borrowing material). Non-Bilkent, outside readers can apply for a daily-card at a special kiosk in the entrance foyer. The exit is open, but it is alarmed and will check for non-circulated items. Please do not try to enter the Library via the exit, as this will also set off the alarm.
In case of any problems, a member of the university’s security will be at
the desk to help.
NEW LIBRARY CATALOG
Bilkent University Library is very happy to announce the launch of it new catalog. Some important, new features of the catalog include:
1. The search results are more visual, with book covers and item-type icons.
2. You can read a short summary of the book and view a table of contents by selecting Look Inside, to help decide if you want to borrow the book without even coming to the Library.
3. You can extend your search to find related items in the catalog by author, subject and location on the shelves.
4. The catalog gives you the option to continue the same search outside the catalog, for example in Google Scholar.
5. By setting up and logging in to My Profile you can manage your account and also receive alerts when new books on a particular subject or by your favorite authors are added to our collection.
6. You can submit material requests and Inter-Library Loan requests from within the catalog.
